Audio books

Hello readers! How are we? I hope you’ve all had a nice day today. :)

You know, I’ve never really gotten into audio books. I understand people like them, but I have always classified myself as a very visual person. I am not a good listener at times. If I have to listen to something for extended periods of time my mind eventually wanders, and I start thinking about monkeys or food or monkeys eating food… :-/

Needless to say I am the type of girl who really just sticks to the old fashioned book. It always works!

But that being said, I thought I would give it another crack. You know, try it once more, and make sure I am not doing ANYTHING else whilst I listen (as I like to think I can do two things at once, but I am not too good at FOCUSING on both things at once). I bought The Amityville Horror… not a YA book or one I’d normally read but one I have wanted to read for a while. AND I LOVE IT!

I’ve been listening to it in the car…. I’ve been listening to it of a night time AFTER I have finished reading a book and my eyes are too tired to read (I listen in bed). And it’s been fantastic. It means I can “read” 3 books on the go instead of 2, which lets face it… if it helps me get through more books, and it helps me review more it’s a good thing!

It also helps me get through reading fatigue, which I am suffering from a little at the minute. It breaks up the routine of having to read when I am not in the mood, cause I can just sit quietly and listen and still be just as productive.

I am considering buying The Selection by Keira Cass…. Audible have it for about $15 which I think is pretty good. PS… for anyone who hasn’t checked out Audible yet, do it! It’s super cheap in the realm of what other places charge for audio books (At least in Australia). And I can download it to my itunes and load it on my iPad and iPhone and listen on the go. So much to love about that!

Do you listen to audio books? What do you like or not like about them? Admitedly, in the past, dodgy narrators are always a turn off for audio books. But if you get a great narrator I think I’ve come around to them. :)

What do you think?

I LOVE audible! And as a matter of fact, I listened to the Amittyville Horror not too long ago and loved it. Although I must say, I’m a little more freatked out at night when I turn all the lights out before bedtime. I’m hopelessly addicted to audiobooks, especially when I’m driving to work and working out. If you ever need a recommendation, just let me know!
