This book reveal definitely took me by surprise! And I have to say, I am super excited about this somewhat mysterious, but I am sure utterly amazing and unique YA book.

Kiersten White is one of my favourite authors, she has written great books such as Paranormalcy, Supernaturally, Endlessly, The Chaos of Stars and Mind Games - but this book has something extra special: Jim Di Bartolo! Jim is an incredibly gifted artist, and I cannot wait to see more of his amazing work in printed format. I was introduced to Jim’s art due to Laini Taylor’s books, but I am not being biased when I say I love his work - Jim certainly holds his own when it comes to the talent department! You may already know how fantastic Jim is, as he was responsible for the utterly beautiful illustrations in Lips Touch, Blackbringer and Silksinger (amongst his other great work).

Combining Jim’s art and Kiersten’s writing can be nothing short of spectacular! Some of the details of this upcoming release are somewhat a mystery: there is no synopsis on Goodreads, and both Kiersten and Jim have kept their cards close to their chest on this one. From what I can tell, this will be a truly unique book - it is not a graphic novel, or a novel with illustrations - the illustrations tell as much of the story as the written text… and that is something that truly excites me! But what we know so far: The artwork has been done by Jim (eek), the writing is by Kiersten (fangirlling), the editor is David Levithan (wow!) and it will be in full colour (ohmygod). Kiersten has described it as “this book is unlike anything else on the YA shelves right now”.

I cannot wait for this book! I know I shouldn’t wish my life away, but considering April will bring me Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor, a trip to Prague and now IN THE SHADOWS, I wish it was April 2014 already!

More information about this exciting book can be found at Kiersten White’s blog, Jim Di Barolo’s blog and the Publishers Weekly website.

Eeeeeekkkkk!!!!!!
