Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins

Synopsis: Young Katniss Everdeen has survived the dreaded Hunger Games not once, but twice, but even now she can find no relief. In fact, the dangers seem to be escalating: President Snow has declared an all-out war on Katniss, her family, her friends, and all the oppressed people of District 12. The thrill-packed final installment of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games trilogy will keep young hearts pounding.

Review: Mockingjay was fairly different to the first two books in the Hunger Games series. Not worse necessarily, but different to what I expected, and kind of made me get the impression that the author was just trying really hard to bring the series to an end too early almost.

It still kept to the same themes of war.. but replacing the actual Hunger Games with.. well an all out war between the districts. Much darker than the other two books, this one focused more on a vigilante style battle against the Capitol and President Snow. I felt it ended rather abruptly, but that is my only real criticism. I did enjoy this book very much so!

It was so action packed and still definitely a page turner. I flied through this book. And truthfully, I was sad when the book came to an end, because it marked the end of the Hunger Games series, and so that was a bit depressing! All in all, one of the BEST YA book series I have ever read and highly recommend ALL three books to anyone! They’ll be even more popular with the release of The Hunger Games movie I am pretty sure.
