It’s Friday!

TGIF is a weekly meme to re-cap the week’s posts & to propose a question for our followers. It is run by Ginger at GReads
Buy or Borrow: Where do your books that you read come from? The bookstore? The library? Do you prefer to own a book, or have it on loan?
I really wish I could say I borrowed more often, because then I wouldn’t perhaps be as poor as I always seem to be! But alas, I am a book junkee, and there is nothing quite like the rush of buying a book from a book store to put on your shelves.
I would say maybe 5% - 10% of my books are borrowed and the rest bought! The fact that my TBR list changes ALL the time based on released dates and priority of new releases over old ones doesn’t help. I might borrow a book, but then receive an ARC the next day which puts the borrowed book behind the ARC. I suck like that.

Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

Hmmmm I’m really not a fan of books with strong religious undertones… and I am not a fan of sci-fi generally speaking, however I think I have tested that a little in 2011 after reading a number of dystopian/sci-fi books that got me out of my comfort zone!

What do you think?

  • I get most of my books from the library due to budget and space issues. I love pretty much all genres, but I think I don’t think I enjoy books with children as sleuths - like 12 years solving mysteries.

  • I do like the rush of buying books and knowing I own it! but my wallet tends to not like it. Libraries and friends are how I get most of my books now.
