This week the book in question is Revived by Cat Patrick.

After buying a copy of the Australian copy this week in store, I discovered the cover on Goodreads is VASTLY different in the US compared to Australia. Given what the story is all about, I thought I’d share with you guys and see which one you prefer. Personally I feel both covers almost tell two different stories, but certainly aren’t consistent with each other (you’ll understand what I mean when you see them).

What is Revived all about?

As a little girl, Daisy Appleby was killed in a school bus crash. Moments after the accident, she was brought back to life.

A secret government agency has developed a drug called Revive that can bring people back from the dead, and Daisy Appleby, a test subject, has been Revived five times in fifteen years. Daisy takes extraordinary risks, knowing that she can beat death, but each new death also means a new name, a new city, and a new life. When she meets Matt McKean, Daisy begins to question the moral implications of Revive, and as she discovers the agency’s true goals, she realizes she’s at the center of something much larger—and more sinister—than she ever imagined.

What do you think of the covers? I personally love them both, but when I read the blurb about the actual story I am not sure either of them have much relevance to the story itself. But that being said, the US cover has a distinct air of mystery about it, which looks very intriguing. It almost makes the book feel like it should be a thriller or horror.

The Aussie cover is quite feminine and contemporary looking. I prefer the font on the Aussie one to the US one, but the cover itself doesn’t align with the story in the sense that this is a girl meant to be daring and risking her life all the time since she knows she in effect can’t die. Lying in the grass doesn’t feel risque.

For prettyness, I vote the Aussie cover. For intrigue I vote the US cover. I’m torn!
