Monday Mailbox #2

Posted by on May 7, 2012

Good morning! Welcome to Monday Mailbox #2, where I can share the books I bought and received in the previous week!

Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Mailbox Monday is originally hosted by Marcia from A girl and her books and The Printed Page. In the summer of 2010 Marcia decided she needed a change in hosting and didn’t want to rely on one blogger alone to do it because its a lot of work so she decided to put Mailbox Monday on tour and so far with great success it has made monthly stops at more then a dozen blogs and this year is booked until the end. The host for May is Martha from Reviews by Martha’s Bookshelf. Be sure to check her out!

This is my last Monday Mailbox before I get back to Australia from the United States on June 1st. I expect my June IMM to be huge!

Insurgent (Divergent #2) - Veronica Roth

OMG! I bought both the paperback copy as well as the audiobook version from Audible! I did this because the aim is to be able to read this on the 14 hour flight from Sydney to LA, and I am sure my eyes will not be wanting to “read” the whole way, so I can listen also and hopefully get through the whole thing in one sitting then! I’ve been dying to know what happens since I finished the last pages of Divergent last year!

Social Suicide (Deadly Cool #2) - Gemma Halliday

Deadly Cool was one of my surprise favourite books of 2011. It had this really cool mystery who-dun-it style vibe to it, and it’s such a unique quality in YA books currently. The covers are so stunning, but the quality of the story matches the cover too. This is a book I’ve been waiting for since I finished the first one, and I am hoping I might be able to read it in the next few weeks, fingers crossed!!

The Unraveling - Elizabeth Norris

Another audiobook from Audible. Seriously, it’s becoming an addiction! haha But I find the books so affordable, and I can get through them much faster (with thanks to the x2 button on iPad, I can make the slow narration go twice as fast!) and it’s helps create a different reading experience for the times when I am getting in a reading slump or just too fatigued to actually sit and read a book. It’s been a huge breakthrough for me!

Purity - Jackson Pearce

The best thing about the audiobook version of Purity is that it is read by Jackson Pearce herself!! If you can’t get enough of her YouTube videos, then this is certainly a great way for fans of hers to hear more of her! And anytime you have the experience to hear the author reading their own books, I think you should. To hear their own words, in the way they intended them to sound, I think that is pretty special. I am hoping to be able to listen to this during my travels!

Jessica Rules The Dark Side (Jessica #2) - Beth Fantaskey

I am still yet to read the first book (Jessica’s Guide To Dating on the Dark Side), but I really love the covers on these books, and both of them have received some pretty decent reviews as well. I happened to get this one fairly cheap and find it hard to pass up any sort of bargain at the best of times! lol

So that is all from me this week, what did you receive this week? Let me know - leave your links in the comments section below!
