Top Ten Favorite Quotes From Books

You know a good quote the moment you read it… for me, it makes me stop reading dead in my tracks, just so I can re-read it. Some quotes have been so profound on me at that time in my life I’ve had to put the book down to think about it. These quotes, while far and few in between are long lasting though and you never forget them. :)

10. “I think the world has mostly ended because the cities we wander through are as rotten as we are. Buildings have collapsed. Rusted cars clog the streets. Most glass is shattered and the wind drifting through the hollow high-rises moans like an animal left to die. I don’t know what happened. Disease? War? Social collapse? Or was it just was? The Dead replacing the Living? I guess it’s not so important. Once you’ve arrived at the end of the world, it hardly matters which road you took.” - Isaac Marion, Warm Bodies

9. “I follow, always, because it’s the only time when our hearts beat in perfect harmony, the only time when I’m certain, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we are one person broken in two.” ― Jackson Pearce, Sisters Red

8. “I love you as certain dark things are loved, secretly, between the shadow and the soul” - Stephanie Perkins, Anna & The French Kiss

7. “Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.” ― Veronica Roth, Divergent

6. “I am nothing but novocaine. I am numb, a world of nothing, all feeling and emotion gone forever. I am a whisper that never was.” ― Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me

5. “If you gave someone your heart and they died, did they take it with them? Did you spend the rest of forever with a hole inside you that couldn’t be filled?” - Jodi Picoult, Nineteen Minutes

4. “Every minute you spend with someone gives them a part of your life and takes part of theirs.” - Ally Condie, Matched

3. “It takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart.” - Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay

2. “You know it’s never fifty-fifty in a marriage. It’s always seventy-thirty, or sixty-forty. Someone falls in love first. Someone puts someone else up on a pedestal. Someone works very hard to keep things rolling smoothly; someone else sails along for the ride.”― Jodi Picoult, Mercy

1. “When you [lose someone], it feels like the hole in your gum when a tooth falls out. You can chew, you can eat, you have plenty of other teeth, but your tongue keeps going back to that empty place, where all nerves are still a little raw” ― Jodi Picoult, House Rules

What do you think?

    Drop by my Top 10?

  • I love the Picoult quotes. #10 made the biggest impression on me when I was 17, and actually helped me to get out of a very bad relationship.

As for Anna, that book just has the most amazing quotes, especially considering it’s supposed to be Chick-lit!

I tried something different with my quotes, you’re welcome to visit :)

  • 8, 7, 6 and 4 for the WIN! Otherwise … I haven’t read the book. :P
