Monday Mailbox #14

Hello everyone! Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Mailbox Monday is originally hosted by Marcia from A girl and her books and The Printed Page.

Teeth - Hannah Moskowitz

Thank you to Simon Pulse for an Advanced Readers Copy of this book, it looks SO creepy (in a good way)! haha

Rudy’s life is flipped when his family moves to a remote island. Rudy sinks deeper and deeper into loneliness and lies awake at night listening to the ocean beneath his family’s rickety house.

Then he meets Diana, who makes him wonder what he even knows about love, and Teeth, who makes him question what he knows about anything. Rudy can’t remember the last time he felt so connected to someone, but being friends with Teeth is more than a little bit complicated. He soon learns that Teeth has terrible secrets. Violent secrets. Secrets that will force Rudy to choose between his own happiness and his brother’s life.

Fingerprints of You - Kristen-Paige Madonia

I saw this on someone else’s Mailbox Monday last week and it looked super interesting so I bought it for my Kindle on Amazon!

Lemon grew up with Stella, a single mom who wasn’t exactly maternal. Stella always had a drink in her hand and a new boyfriend every few months, and when things got out of hand, she would whisk Lemon off to a new town for a fresh beginning. Now, just as they are moving yet again, Lemon discovers that she is pregnant from a reckless encounter—with a guy Stella had been flirting with.

On the verge of revisiting her mother’s mistakes, Lemon struggles to cope with the idea of herself as a young unmarried mother, as well as the fact that she’s never met her own father. Determined to have at least one big adventure before she has the baby, Lemon sets off on a cross-country road trip, intending not only to meet her father, but to figure out who she wants to be.

Sirens - Janet Fox

I received a copy of this from Netgalley! It’s due for release next month. I am a *tad* bit confused as it says book 3, but the first two books actually kinda look like standalones with different characters.. if anyone can clarify that would be stellar!

When Jo Winter’s parents send her off to live with her rich cousin on the glittering island of Manhattan, it’s to find a husband and forget about her brother Teddy’s death. But all that glitters is not gold,. Caught up in the swirl of her cousin’s bobbed-hair set—and the men that court them—Jo soon realizes that the talk of marriage never stops, and behind the seemingly boundless gains are illicit business endeavors, gangsters, and their molls. Jo would much rather spend time the handsome but quiet Charles, a waiter at the Algonquin Hotel, than drape herself over a bootlegger. But when she befriends a moll to one of the most powerful men in town, Jo begins to uncover secrets—secrets that threaten an empire and could secure Jo’s freedom from her family. Can her newfound power buy her love? Or will it to ruin Jo, and everyone around her?

Hollowland - Amanda Hocking

I got this for free from Amazon! YAY! We all love free stuff. And this looks like a really great read too, keen to get into this.

“This is the way the world ends - not with a bang or a whimper, but with zombies breaking down the back door.”

Nineteen-year-old Remy King is on a mission to get across the wasteland left of America, and nothing will stand in her way - not violent marauders, a spoiled rock star, or an army of flesh-eating zombies.

So that is all from me this week, what did you receive this week? Let me know - leave your links in the comments section below!

What do you think?

  • Fingerprints of You- nice! I just started reading that one and hope we both enjoy it :) I just requested Teeth on Edelweiss, and it sounds so original and creative. Love the cover of Sirens too! I am also curious if all the books are standalones, it looks like a good series anyway.
    Happy reading, Melissa!
