I received this book for review as an ARC from Disney Hyperion via Netgalley, thank you very much! I won’t lie, I am a sucker for a pretty cover, and this one is just gorgeous. It also has received incredible reviews so I am keen to see what it’s all about.

Passionaries (The Blessed #2) - Tonya Hurley

Thanks to Simon & Schuster for this ARC copy. I have The Blessed sitting on my shelves to read, and so I think I am going to get to that as well as Passionaries before this comes out next January. I love this cover although it doesn’t really match the cover of The Blessed… so I am wondering if there is going to be a cover change for the first book as well when this book comes out? *pet peeve* However. I am looking forward to this series very much.

Agnes, Cecelia, and Lucy watched as Sebastian sacrificed himself for what he believed in. Will the girls trust that their destiny as saints and martyrs and perform the miracles as Sebastian instructed? Or lose faith in themselves and each other in his absence? Time is running out for them to make a decision, and the fate of the world lies in the balance.

DC Comics - Injustice: Gods Among Us Vol 1 - Tom Taylor

Yay my first ever ARC approval from DC Comics! *fangirls* I love my comics (DC Comics in particular are my favourite… anything that has Batman in it basically), and so I am pumped to get approved for this copy before it comes out in November. I am part way through this at the moment too… not bad so far. This is a graphic novel containing issues 1-5 of the series. I’ve also requested some other titles… whilst Book Nerd Reviews will never be a comic review website, I do plan on featuring more of them in the future here and there since it’s the other love in my life apart from YA books.

Things in the DC Universe have changed after Superman is tricked into destroying the one thing he loves the most. Now unwilling to let crime go unpunished, the heroes of our world must choose if they are with Superman or against him. But not every country will submit to his new world order and neither will Superman’s greatest threat—Batman!

Waterfell (The Aquarathi #1) - Amalie Howard

I received this from Pan Macmillan Australia - thank you! As a long time fan of Jana Oliver I am really looking forward to this book. This is scheduled for release on 12 September.

I received this ARC from Harper Collins Australia - a massive thank you for this advance copy. I have heard a lot about this book, and it has jumped to the top of my TBR pile! This is scheduled for release on I October.

My pre-order for This Girl arrived this week, and it is so good to have a finally have a physical copy of this book.

I finally found the edition of this book that I needed (I had to have the matching set!). A what was even better than finally finding it? Finding it at the bargain price of $2.95.

I also picked this one up at the bargain price of $2.95. I will admit I had not heard of the book prior to seeing it on my bargain shop, but I looked it up, and Melissa had given it a decent rating, so I took the plunge into the unknown :)

I finally got the physical copies of these books (after reading the first 3 on ebook). I needed to get the hardcovers (to match my The Infernal Devices), so I purchased the box-set.

Hate Is Such A Strong Word - Sarah Ayoub

Thanks Harper Collins Australia for this ARC due out for release on September 1st. I’m almost half way through this one already, and it’s pretty good. Aussie YA fiction with very real themes of racism. I remember the Cronulla riots in Sydney in 2005, and this book basically picks up on this and rolls with it. Based on the perspective of a Lebanese Australian teenage girl. I am really enjoying this!

Sophie Kazzi is in Year 12 at an all-Lebanese, all-Catholic school where she is invisible, uncool and bored out of her brain. While she′s grown up surrounded by Lebanese friends, Lebanese neighbours and Lebanese shops, she knows there′s more to life than Samboosik and Baklawa, and she desperately wants to find it.

Unfortunately, her father has antiquated ideas about women, curfews and the Lebanese ′way′. Bad news for Sophie, who was hoping to spend Year 12 fitting in and having fun - not babysitting her four younger siblings, or studying for final exams that will land her in an Accounting course she has no interest in.

The Bone Season (The Bone Season #1) - Samantha Shannon

I also received this book from Bloomsbury - thank you for this copy! This book is out on August 20th so just in a few days and I am hearing amazing things about it.

Paige Mahoney works in the criminal underworld of Scion London, part of a secret cell known as the Seven Seals. The work she does is unusual: scouting for information by breaking into others’ minds. Drowning Instinct - Ilsa J. Bick

I finally purchased this book to have on my bookshelf. I previously had (and read) on ebook.

There are stories where the girl gets her prince, and they live happily ever after. (This is not one of those stories.)

Jenna Lord’s first sixteen years were not exactly a fairytale. Her father is a controlling psycho and her mother is a drunk. She used to count on her older brother—until he shipped off to Afghanistan. And then, of course, there was the time she almost died in a fire.

There are stories where the monster gets the girl, and we all shed tears for his innocent victim. (This is not one of those stories either.)

Mitch Anderson is many things: A dedicated teacher and coach. A caring husband. A man with a certain… magnetism.

And there are stories where it’s hard to be sure who’s a prince and who’s a monster, who is a victim and who should live happily ever after. (These are the most interesting stories of all.)

Throne Of Glass (Throne Of Glass #1) - Sarah J. Maas

I purchased this as well (once again, I had the ebook) so that it can look pretty on my bookshelf next to the ARC of the sequel Crown of Midnight - and to support the local book store on National Bookshop Day :) I am currently reading this one, and I am loving it!

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her… but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best. Then one of the other contestants turns up dead… quickly followed by another.

Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

I received this book for review as an ARC from Netgalley, pumped as it’s had good reviews and I am a sucker for a good cover! Loving crime based YA right now. Due for release in November.

The F- It List - Julie Halpern

Another Netgalley ARC for me… love the boldness of this cover with the colours. It looks like it’s going to be a really good read. This is out in November also.

With her signature heart and humor, Julie Halpern explores a strained friendship strengthened by one girl’s battle with cancer.

Alex’s father recently died in a car accident. And on the night of his funeral, her best friend Becca slept with Alex’s boyfriend. So things aren’t great. Alex steps away from her friendship with Becca and focuses on her family.

But when Alex finally decides to forgive Becca, she finds out something that will change her world again-Becca has cancer.

So what do you do when your best friend has cancer? You help her shave her head. And then you take her bucket list and try to fulfill it on her behalf. Because if that’s all you can do to help your ailing friend-you do it.

The Sound - Sarah Alderson

My pre-order of this arrived this week. I enjoyed Sarah Alderson’s Hunting Lila series (unrelated to this book, besides a small crossover in Tormenting Lila), I find Sarah’s writing easy to get into, so hopefully this one will be just as good. :)

When aspiring music journalist Ren Kingston takes a job nannying for a wealthy family on the exclusive island of Nantucket, playground for Boston’s elite, she’s hoping for a low-key summer reading books and blogging about bands. Boys are firmly off the agenda.

What she doesn’t count on is falling in with a bunch of party-loving private school kids who are hiding some dark secrets, falling (possibly) in love with the local bad boy, and falling out with a dangerous serial killer…

Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) - Sarah J. Maas

I received this book from Bloomsbury, which I am excited about as I have been wanting to read Throne of Glass for some time, so I will read that soon. I have Throne of Glass on ebook, but I love the Australian covers for these books, so I will purchase the physical copy soon. :)

I also received this book from Bloomsbury- which I am super excited about. However I will not be posting this review on the website, as Melissa is currently reading and will be posting a review soon. My review will be posted on Goodreads if you are interested in seeing my thoughts on this book.

Em is locked in a bare, cold cell with no comforts. Finn is in the cell next door. The Doctor is keeping them there until they tell him what he wants to know. Trouble is, what he wants to know hasn’t happened yet.

Em and Finn have a shared past, but no future unless they can find a way out. The present is torture - being kept apart, overhearing each other’s anguish as the Doctor relentlessly seeks answers. There’s no way back from here, to what they used to be, the world they used to know. Then Em finds a note in her cell which changes everything. I received this book for review as an ARC from Netgalley, and I am really excited about this one, the storyline sounds like a goodie!

The Beautiful And The Damned - Jessica Verday

I received this book for review as an ARC from Edelweiss. I am really looking forward to this spin-off of The Hollow series (which I really enjoyed). I have also been waiting for Jessica Verday to release something since the withdrawal from the infamous ’Wicked Pretty Things: 13 Dark Faerie Romances’ anthology (the anthology was later cancelled by the publisher). I hold a lot of respect for Jessica making a stand (and the other authors who also pulled out of this anthology in support of Jessica and her beliefs).

Cyn and Avian are far from a perfect match. She’s a witch who casts spells on men so she can steal their cars. He spends his time being judge, jury, and executioner to the truly evil in the supernatural realm.

When the blackouts Cyn’s been having ever since her time in Sleepy Hollow start escalating, she finds herself unable to remember where she’s been or what she’s been doing. Frightened, she seeks guidance at a local church, and it’s there she meets Avian.

The unlikely pair soon discovers that her blackouts are a side effect of what she truly is—an Echo—a conduit for souls of the dead. I also got this ARC from Edelweiss. A book about a girl who jumps between the lines of book - I can’t wait to read this one!

I received this book for review as an ARC from Bloomsbury - thank you very much! It’s due out for release August 1st. I am loving the US cover more than the Aussie one, but the story itself is meant to be really good!

Em is locked in a bare, cold cell with no comforts. Finn is in the cell next door. The Doctor is keeping them there until they tell him what he wants to know. Trouble is, what he wants to know hasn’t happened yet.

I received this book for review as an ARC from Netgalley. I love Elizabeth Scott, her writing is compelling, so I am looking forward to this one!

I am so pumped to read Dark Triumph. Grave Mercy was such an incredible read - complex but rich, and I fell in love with the characters. I am really looking forward to the next installment in this story.

Thank you to Harper Collins for this ARC copy of Asylum! I am really intrigued by this book, it looks dark (right up my alley!) and in the same fashion of Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children with the images (it is a photo-novel). This will be out in August.

I received this one as an ARC from Edelweiss. I bought the first one when I was in the US last year, but I haven’t read it yet. I’d like to be able to read them both shortly - both covers match so well and look stunning. Dance is scheduled for release on June 11th.

Bethany Griffin continues the journey of Araby Worth in Dance of the Red Death—the sequel to her teen novel Masque of the Red Death.

In Dance of the Red Death, Araby’s world is in shambles—betrayal, death, disease, and evil forces surround her. She has no one to trust. But she finds herself and discovers that she will fight for the people she loves, and for her city.

I bought this one! Just happened to see it when I was Mother’s Day shopping… haha Yes, I do that a lot. I’ve heard some really great things about this book and so I grabbed a copy. :)

I knew I’d heard of this one, but the Australian cover (left) looks different to the US one, so it wasn’t until I bought this and looked it up on Goodreads that I pieced it together. The thing I like about Cat Patrick’s books are that she has a great imagination, and her books are always unlike everything else I’ve read. Looking forward to this.

One of the most amazing covers (The Selection was also incredibly gorgeous). I am looking forward to finding out what happens to America in this one.

Thank you so much to Simon & Schuster for approving me for this ARC copy of Fire With Fire! I have been dying to know what was going to happen since I finished Burn for Burn. This is not out until September 3rd so keep your eyes peeled for a review closer to that date!

Thank you so much to Pan Macmillan Australia for a copy of this book, scheduled for release on June 1st! This is an Aussie YA/Adult crossover book, and I predict big things for it as the US rights were sold to Little, Brown in a 3 book deal recently so you folks overseas will be hearing things about Wildlife soon! I’ve been hearing comparisons to John Green which is a HUGE call to make guys! But apparently this book can back it up. I am SUPER keen to read this and see for myself what I think, but so far, great reviews.

Woo thanks to Netgalley I got a copy of this, which I think looks awesome! I did a cover reveal on this one a little while ago and it looks like it could be quite controversial.

Screwed - Laurie Plissner

This one has received some pretty harsh reviews on Goodreads in some cases, but I am curious to see what I think of it myself. I got this one from Netgalley also!

Grace was the girl who always did everything right, until the night she fell for a boy’s sleazy line and became pregnant. Nick couldn’t care less about pretty math-geek Grace or the baby he fathered. He’s had a dozen girls like her, and he’ll have a dozen more. When Grace confesses to her super-religious, strait-laced parents, they deliver a shocker: They’ve scheduled an abortion. All they want is to pretend this never happened.

When Grace balks, they literally throw her out in the street. A rich, elderly neighbor takes her in, and, with the help of the friendship she needs in Charlie, the old woman’s great-nephew, she must make the toughest choice of her young life. Texas Gothic - Rosemary Clement-Moore

I got this one from my local library. I have heard a little bit about it, and I love the premise of the book combined with the cover. It sounds like it has some really good potenial.

Amy Goodnight’s family is far from normal. She comes from a line of witches, but tries her best to stay far outside the family business. Her summer gig? Ranch-sitting for her aunt with her wacky but beautiful sister. Only the Goodnight Ranch is even less normal than it normally is. Bodies are being discovered, a ghost is on the prowl, and everywhere she turns, the hot neighbor cowboy is in her face.

Blind Spot - Laura Ellen

Another library read! Amazing cover… I won’t lie, I love a good cover!
