Monday Mailbox #26

Good morning lovely readers! Did you all have a good weekend?? Hopefully the book fairy was good to you last week and you bought or received lots of goodies!

I had a great week - I received some VERY highly anticipated books in the mail, and I also bought some brand spanking new releases to share with you too!

Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists. Mailbox Monday is originally hosted by Marcia from A girl and her books and The Printed Page.

Stacking the Shelves is bought to you by Tynga from Tynga’s Reviews. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) - Tahereh Mafi

OMG OMG OMG!!! Thank you SO much Allen & Unwin Australia for an Advanced Readers Copy version of Unravel Me! This book has been so high on my want to read list, that I squealed when this arrived! I will say that I am hating the Aussie cover for this, but knowing the treasure inside I will let it slide.

Our lips touch and I know I’m going to split at the seams. He kisses me softly then strongly like he’s lost me and he’s found me and I’m slipping away and he’s never going to let me go.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. A place for people like her - people with gifts - and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She’s finally free from the Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch. Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

Haunted by her past, terrified of her future, Juliette knows that in her present, she will have to make some life-changing choices.
Choices that may include choosing between her heart - and Adam’s life.

When We Wake - Karen Healey

This book has me SO excited! Again a huge thank you to the lovely folks at Allen & Unwin Australia for this book. I am mostly looking forward to this book as it’s set in Melbourne, Australia. I live an hour away from Melbourne, and actually used to live here so to read a futuristic book based on a city that I just love, is going to be amazing!

The last thing Tegan remembers is the crack as the gun went off, intense pain, and everything fading to black. One hundred years later, she wakes up. A fast-paced near-future romance.

Sixteen-year-old Tegan is just like every other girl living in 2027 - she’s happiest when playing the guitar, she’s falling in love for the first time, and she’s joining her friends to protest the wrongs of the world: environmental collapse, social discrimination, and political injustice.

But on what should have been the best day of Tegan’s life, she dies - and wakes up a hundred years in the future, locked in a government facility with no idea what happened.

Tegan is the first person to be cryonically frozen and successfully revived, which makes her an instant celebrity - though all she wants is to rebuild some semblance of a normal life …
including spending as much time as possible with musically gifted Abdi, even if he does seem to hate the sight of her. But the future isn’t all she hoped it would be, and when appalling secrets come to light, Tegan must make a choice: Does she keep her head down and survive, or fight for a better future.

Shades Of Earth (Across The Universe #3) - Beth Revis

Can you see why this weeks mailbox has me sooooo excited?! Every single book has been one I’ve been waiting on for ages!!! The final book in the Across The Universe trilogy, I’ve no idea when I am going to get time to read these books, but I am going to just have to do it!

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They’re ready to start life afresh-to build a home-on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience.

But this new Earth isn’t the paradise Amy had been hoping for. There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. The biggest secret of all? Godspeed‘s former passengers aren’t alone on this planet. And if they’re going to stay, they’ll have to fight.

Amy and Elder must race to discover who-or what-else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. They will have to look inward to the very core of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed-friends, family, life on Earth-will have been for nothing.

Level 2 (The Memory Chronicles #1) - Lenore Appelhans

I have been waiting so long for Level 2. It looks absolutely amazing! I have also been invited to a Twitter chat with some Aussie book bloggers and Lenore next Tuesday, which I am hoping I will be able to make (as I’ll be at work when it starts, so depends on when I can get home). It seriously looks like such a good book!

Three levels. Two loves. One choice. Debut novelist, Lenore Appelhans has written a thrilling otherworldly young adult novel about a place that exists between our world (Level 1) and what comes after life (Level 2).

‘I pause to look around the hive - all the podlike chambers are lit up as the drones shoot up on memories … I’ve wanted to get out of here before, but now the tight quarters start to choke me. There has to be more to death than this.’

Felicia Ward is dead. Trapped in a stark white afterlife limbo, she spends endless days replaying memories, of her family, friends, boyfriend … and of the guy who broke her heart. The guy who has just broken into Level 2 to find her.

Felicia learns that a rebellion is brewing, and it seems she is the key. Suspended between heaven and earth, she must make a choice. Between two worlds, two lives and two loves.

  • Brodie says:

I can’t wait for you to read Unravel Me!!! The story within makes up for the unappealing cover :D When We Wake sounds SO GOOD. I’m hoping to squeeze it in soooooon, if I can get through some current reads fast. I love futuristic stories and I’m kind of fond of that awesome little country called Australia, so combining the two is genius :D

I still haven’t read A Million Suns! What is wrong with me?!?! I loved Across The Universe, I just… never got around to getting a copy and then my excitement dwindled. I think I need to rectify this asap.

AWESOME haul, Melissa! Many happy hours of reading ahead of you :)

    • Melissa says:

I am hoping to get through my current reads ASAP JUST so I can get around to Unravel Me sooner! I’d love to know what you think of When We Wake too… not sure when I’ll be able to fit that in, but I wanna try and make a special effort for that… Aussie reads are the sickest. :D

BRODIE!!!!! Read Across The Universe dude! It’s frikken amazing, it blew my mind. And I don’t even like sci-fi. At least read chapter one of the first book, and if you don’t love that don’t continue… it’s one of the best first chapters ever IMO.

      Thanks for your comment! xx

  • HOLY CRAP WHAT A HAUL :O
