Top 10 Books That Have Stayed with Us in Some Way
We have been tagged by Arra at Style Reader to list 10 books that have stayed with us. We are going to cheat a little and do 5 each (I know, cheating isn’t fair, but we do things as a team).
The rules are you can’t take more than a few minutes and do not think too hard. They do not have to be right and great works of literature. You don’t have to do a blog post, you can do this and tag others via social media and you then have to tag 10 other people to do the same.
So, here are our Top 10 Books That Have Stayed with Me in Some Way:
Kristy
Daughter of Smoke and Bone - Laini Taylor
This book completely wowed me. It floored me from everything to the amazing descriptions of Prague, to totally enchanting prose, to the storyline that will suck you in to its world. I love everything about it.
This book floored me. I loved the plot, and I admired the fact it touched on some extremely sensitive subjects. I thought the journey of this young girl was intense but it was written with such brilliance that I could not look away.
Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone - JK Rowling
Of course Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone is on my list. It was the beginning of the journey that lead me through 7 wonderfully written and imaginative books. I read these as an adult, but the magic of this series still blew me away.
This book just brought all the feels. It takes you on a journey of how the actions of one stranger can alter the life of so many, the immediate and flow on effects can actually shatter the lives of complete strangers.
This may be an odd one to have on this list, but that is exactly why it is here. A story about a brother and sister falling in love - there are so many things in me that recoil from it. But, I did read it. And I actually liked it. Although it crosses many lines, and I did not want the “happily ever after”, this book proved that even a story that includes a topic that makes your skin crawl, can be well-written and enjoyable.
Melissa
Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins
This was probably the first and most memorable YA contemporary book I read and loved. I may have read a few before, but this is the first time I have been wowed! I think I read this now 2 or 3 years ago, but I still remember Etienne and Anna.
The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
This book may appear on a few lists! But The Hunger Games introduced me to the dystopian genre and I couldn’t get enough of it after this book. Not to mention, The Hunger Games is just an amazing book anyways.
The Fault in Our Stars - John Green
It was beautiful. It made me cry… enough said really.
The first time I read fantasy and really loved it. The characters were endearing and memorable and well written and the story has stayed with me ever since I read it!
Batgirl Vol 4: Wanted - Gail Simone
Of course you’re not going to get a list from me without a comic appearance! I loved Volume 4 of Batgirl because of the feels! Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) has a stand off with her father who doesn’t know her true identity. It was so well written. Loved it.

What do you think?
YES TO HARRY POTTER YES! I only read it recently (some time this year) and oh my goodness it was just PERFECTION. I seriously need to read Forbidden. I am so intrigued by the summary and I heard it’s different from other books. I really want to read Hopeless too. I heard Colleen Hoover writes amazing contemporary novels. The Hunger Games is definitely going to be on my list as well. Thanks for tagging me! Btw, I love your new design! Sooo cute. :)
How could I not have Harry Potter on the list? Forbidden isn’t one of my all time favourite books, but it did have an a big impact.
The Hunger Games would have been on my list if I had of done the full 10.
I look forward to seeing your full list :)
These all look like really interesting books that have enormous emotional potention *adds all to TBR* Slammed by Colleen Hoover definitely had a big impact on me when I read it, along with The Book Thief because they were just so powerfully written. I’m in the middle of reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone at the moment, so maybe that will also end up on my list! :)

:) So happy to help add books to your TBR list! I still need to read The Book Thief, but I really want to! (PS, I hope you love Daughter of Smoke and Bone)
Ahhh, only just saw this now! I’m catching up on blogs lol. Definitely going to have to think about this one :) haha of course DoSaB is in this!

Well, I had to be honest :) I look forward to seeing your list Gina!
Bloody hell Kristy, you could have at least reminded me I had to do this. Sheesh woman :D Ahhh Hopeless! That one completely ripped my heart out. Colleen Hoover is one of my few automatic buy authors, she’s just incredible. This list wouldn’t be complete without The Hunger Games, that could be a genre all in it’s own. Like Melissa, it introduced me to the genre, and I’ve loved it ever since. Awesome list laaaaadies *runs off to think what she’s going to post*
Kelly recently posted…The Maze Runner by James Dashner
So sorry Kelly! And I agree about The Hunger Games - it was actually number 6 on my list for me. For much the same reason as everyone else.
I will be sure to stalk, I mean have a quick look, at your list :)
