Tattoos, Nail Art and Cake Inspired By Fiction #1 – Daughter of Smoke and Bone

As you may be aware, we here at Book Nerd Reviews love doing tattoo, nail art and cake ‘inspired by fiction’ posts. You are probably also be aware that I love the Daughter of Smoke and Bones series. And today, since today is my birthday, I am giving myself a present and I am combining all of these loves :)

Normally we pick one type of “inspired by fiction” for each post, but today I am doing them all!

P.S: I have noted that none of my friends have given me a DoSaB inspired cake - I think I need to find new friends :)

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #14 - Batman

I know Batman isn’t YA. But he’s such a big part of today’s pop culture, and Batman books and comics go way back. And basically, just because I love Batman and because I do read his comics, I thought today I would hog the feature to show off some of my favourite Batman tattoos. Hope you guys enjoy!

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #13 - Vampire Academy

I thought this week since Vampire Academy is being released at the cinemas, it would be a good time to have a look at the tattoos inspired by the Vampire Academy series (Including the spinoff series Bloodlines)! Since the markings are so iconic in this series, there’s a lot of the same types of tattoos out there! The first two pics are the we’d take a look at the symbols used in the series itself (there’s heaps!) and then the tattoos fans have gotten themselves. Enjoy!

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #12 - Scott Pilgrim

This week I thought we’d take a look at one that might be considered a little niche. It’s the Scott Pilgrim comic book series, which for those of you in the know was turned into a movie called Scott Pilgrim vs the World. The comic series is actually really good if anyone gets a chance to read them! I thought this week I’d share some tattoos inspired by this comic series!

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #11 - The Wizard of Oz

We haven’t done an inspired by fiction post in a little while and so it’s about high time we did! Welcome to another week of tattoos inspired by fiction. This week we’ve selected tattoos inspired by The Wizard of Oz, a classic book and if you’re like me, you grew up watching the movie also. Enjoy!

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #10 - Peter Pan

Welcome to another week of tattoos inspired by fiction. This week I’ve been a little cheeky in picking Peter Pan, a classic book. I say cheeky because of course Disney picked this up as an animated movie and so all the tattoos below are really from the movie adaptation - however as this is called tattoos inspired by fiction, I figure this is still definitely passable! I really like some of the smaller ones below.. and this weeks came about because I saw the one behind the girls ear of Peter and the kids flying and it’s stuck with me ever since! Love it. :)

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #9 - Looking For Alaska: John Green

Welcome to another week of tattoos inspired by fiction. This week I’ve picked one of my favourite books that I have read in 2013, which is Looking For Alaska by John Green. There’s some beautiful quotes from this book, and as it turns out there’s a lot of people that feel the same way I do since there’s an awful lot of Alaska tatts out there! I found some this week on the internet and wanted to share them with you today.

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #8 - Bookish Tattoos

Good morning! Welcome to another week of tattoos inspired by fiction. This week Kristy and I have picked the theme of books in general. Some of us love many books, and it’s not practical to favor one over all the others. So this week is about the book lovers and book worms out there who got ink to tell the world that they love reading!

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #7 - Alice In Wonderland

Good morning! Welcome to another week of tattoos inspired by fiction. This week I have picked one of my all time favourite classics, Alice In Wonderland, because it’s a bit of a fun one, and because it has a huge fan base that loves the quirkiness of the book (and the cartoon and subsequent movie). If I get a tattoo in the future, I am pretty sure I’d consider an Alice one just because of the hidden meanings behind many of the characters and quotes.

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #6 - Lord of the Rings series

Good morning! Welcome to another week of tattoos inspired by fiction. This week Kristy has picked tattoos from the famous book and movie series Lord Of The Rings. We know that this is a series with an absolutely mammoth fan base, and therefore, lots of people have committed to getting inked. Not sure that I’d go this far with the size of some of these tatts, but I love their enthusiasm.

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #5 - The Fault In Our Stars

Good evening readers, hope you’re doing well! Welcome to another week of tattoos inspired by fiction. This week I picked one of my all time favourite authors John Green, and since he has such a big fan base I know there’s a lot of people that have gone out to get ink based on his novels. The Fault In Our Stars is my favourite John Green book, and with so many quotables, I found these:

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #4 - Divergent Series

Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to another tattoo filled post - and this week we’re looking at the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. This series is known for the icons that represent each faction and the trio of ravens on the collar bone that each represent a family member. These are the most popular type of tattoo I’ve seen based on this series.

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #3 - The Mortal Instruments Series

Good morning! Welcome to another tattoo filled post - and this one was just MADE for this. For anyone who has ever read The Mortal Instruments series, you’ll know about the runes, and how they’re inked on the skin - so it makes sense with this fandom that you’re going to get a lot of runes tattoos. This week we’re looking at tattoos inspired by The Mortal Instruments.

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #2 - The Hunger Games

Good evening readers! Welcome to another tattoo filled post. This week we’re looking at tattoos inspired by The Hunger Games. So many variations of the Mockingjay when I was looking for some good ones! I think The Hunger Games is one of those series that is very near and dear to many hearts (I know it is with me), and some fans show their love with ink on their skin!

Tattoos Inspired By Fiction #1 - Harry Potter

Good morning readers! A while ago we had a regular Sunday feature with all kinds of nail art inspired by fiction… I think I had enough for about a years worth roughly, but like all good things it came to an end when my stash of images ran dry. lol So I was talking with Kristy and I also have a bit of a collection of pics of tattoos inspired by fiction. I am yet to get inked personally (although I have my first tattoo already picked - and yes it is Batman), but I have always loved tattoos and consider them the ultimate sign of fandom, getting something permanently placed on your body. Over the next coming Sunday’s I am going to share with you my favourites based on different books/series/authors each week.

This week, it’s Harry Potter.
